If you've ever gone out to eat Indian food, you've probably noticed a little bowl or basket at the front counter, typically near the register, which contains a mix of various seeds and spice typically with a spoon stuck in it. Most of the time you'll find candied fennel in that mix.
Sugar, fennel, and food colors, the sugar-coated fennel seeds are used for sweetening the breath and cleansing the palate. They’re also helpful in digestion as the fennel seed herb is traditionally known to relieve gas.
