Cyprus white flake salt is a Mediterranean sea salt from Cyprus known for its large, thin, crisp pyramid-shaped flakes. It tends to have a clean, mild brininess and a light crunch, which is why people usually use it as a finishing salt rather than an everyday cooking salt.
In practice, it’s good on:
- grilled meat or fish
- eggs
- tomatoes and salads
- roasted vegetables
- bread, butter, and even chocolate or cookies
You crush it between your fingers right before serving. Because the flakes are airy and delicate, it gives a more noticeable texture than table salt but usually a less harsh, blunt saltiness.
Compared with Maldon, it’s in the same general family of flaky finishing salts, though Cyprus salt is often described as more distinctly pyramidal in shape.
