OMNIVORE Tartufo salt adds layers of earthy, complex mushroom flavor to your cooking. Use it as a rub for meats, wild game, and delicate vegetables. Added in cream sauces, pastas and risotto dishes. Sprinkled on egg dishes—scrambled, omelets and soufflés and it is our favorite topping for buttered popcorn. Tasting Notes: The blend of wild black truffles and organic black pepper infuses this exquisite blend with Musky, buttery notes of garlic, hints of forest floor, and hazelnut.

OMNIVORE Porcini salt combines the muskiness of the most prized forest mushroom, Porcini (aka Cepes) with sea salt.  Amazing!   Use it as a rub to add additional layers of earthy flavors to meats—steaks, pork or wild game. Add to slow cooked and braised dishes, like risottos, soups, and stews to Increase the richness of the umami. toss it in with roasted potatoes, hearty root vegetables and season breadcrumbs to add a depth of flavor that only mushrooms can add.

About Omnivore: THE MAN BEHIND THE SALT

Omnivore was founded by Angelo Garro at the end of 2013, thanks to the enthusiastic support of thousands of Kickstarter contributors and the San Francisco food community.

Known for his role in Michael Pollan’s book “The Omnivore’s Dilemma”, Angelo is a master blacksmith by trade and a passionate hunter, forager, cook and Slow Food icon.

While foraging as a child in Sicily, he learned the wonder of herbs like the wild fennel that grew around his childhood home, and spices like the chili peppers his grandmother hung to dry in her kitchen—when mixed with salt, they give character to any food and make cooking simple. This inspired the launch of their first product Omnivore SALT, a spiced salt blend defined by Alice Waters as “indispensable”, and drew us to experiment with new salt blends (Limone, Porcini and Tartufo, hot sauces (Vulcano- Classic and Ginger) and our cooking base (Sicilia) and Condiment and Spread, Pepata.
